You sound so excited that I can't wait for my turn next year. In terms of your Type 10, I spoke with the program secretary and she said that b/c you are already working in a library, you will only have to complete 15 hours of observation hours and 4 weeks of an internship. Your internship could be broken up into 2 two week sessions. You can also do them during Spring Break in other districts which means that you will only have to take one week off. You can also complete them during the summer at a CPS year-round school. Just something to think about b/c you do not want to be one of those people who come back after a few years trying to finish up their Type 10 and find out that the requirements have changed and they now have to take additional coursework.

Anyway, I hope that you continue to be as enthusiatic and excited about your new role throughout the year and keep posting so the rest of us can keep learning from you!Judith Lopezhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08097133491173362334noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8508625933340682268.post-3017505137560035052009-08-25T14:01:55.535-05:002009-08-25T14:01:55.535-05:00Thanks, Ann. It is a very special day so enjoy it.

Librarians are a pretty tight group. You will find your friends and colleagues at workshops, seminars, and conventions.

We all should strive to stay in touch. There is one thing about school librarianship that is a tad different than public librarianship and that is the possibility for isolation. Keep those doors open and seek out your fellow librarians.Teresa Hamlinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04015305749667118569noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8508625933340682268.post-81521921257613331972009-08-11T09:50:01.324-05:002009-08-11T09:50:01.324-05:00I don't want to put myself in the position of ...I don't want to put myself in the position of being the copyright police.
I certainly inform my co-workers and students about what is required of them in terms of copyright and give them resources & tools to help them find copyleft and copyright friendly materials. However, CC does give a much broader overview of the educational community. It would be great to have both, but that's more $ and a lot more reading. Perhaps some of the broader issues from CC could be covered using articles or websites.Pam Meiserhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13532966714112297782noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8508625933340682268.post-58192691656413536292009-08-07T17:18:48.159-05:002009-08-07T17:18:48.159-05:00Dollfacedlibrarian, would you be willing to share ...Dollfacedlibrarian, would you be willing to share an example of that with me? This way adults could model their problem solving thinking/skills and kids would see that we ("adults") do not have all of the answers. As for the adults, I think they might enjoy this concept because not everyone learns at the same speed - plus it will keep the adults young and help them obeserve that students have other learning strengths other than what they (students)demonstrate in class. I think it would be cool to pair up a few students with an adults, as well as, adults w/adults and kids w/kids. I posted a comment on their blog where the video was embedded and got a response from Dennis O'Connor - I love the people you can "meet" through blogs. I took away all of these concrete ideas, too - I was taking notes frantically once I realized how full of usable suggestions the presentation contained. I also paused and tried some of their tips and tricks. What I find most amazing of all is that there resources, on the most part, are free to librarians and teachers. I find that so refreshing to find yet another resource out there that is high quality, relevant and useful, but that isn't in the game to make a ton of money.Valeriehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10226552068423862028noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8508625933340682268.post-84215761492862485312009-07-21T20:16:01.943-05:002009-07-21T20:16:01.943-05:00Sorry it took me so long to respond, but I thoroug...Sorry it took me so long to respond, but I thoroughly enjoyed reading your blog AND it looks like you're going to continue to add to it.
